Do you live in pain?

Do you suffer from a painful condition? Many of us live with pain and take painkillers although we may not want to. We do this because we think there is no alternative.

Some of my clients who struggle with long term chronic pain or have acute pain have noticed that reflexology reduced their symptoms. From back problems, arthritis and tight shoulders to menstrual pain and headaches.

You’ve heard me say that reflexology doesn’t ‘cure’, so how does this work?

We still don’t understand the science behind why this works. It could be associated with the relaxation that comes with a reflexology treatment or even a placebo effect if you believe strongly enough that it will help. Or maybe there really is a neurological connection between the reflexes on the feet and the associated parts of the body?

It doesn’t work for everyone but for many it can have a profound effect. And one that lasts with regular treatments.

In this article from the Federation of Holistic Therapists Carol Samuel, PhD, FFHT, discusses reflexology in the management of pain.

Here are some of the comments from my clients:

“My body tells me when I’ve missed my regular appointment”

“Regular reflexology keeps on top of my aches and pains”

“I just needed to tell you that 2 days after my session with you I no longer have pain in my right knee so now I’m pain free in both my knees.”

If you feel that reflexology is something you would like to try then this link will take you to my Treatment List and booking page.

Refer a Friend Promotion

How much do you enjoy your treatments?

Many of you recognise the benefits of coming regularly for Reiki or reflexology treatments, but how do you fancy just paying less for your treatment?

All I ask in return is that you ‘refer a friend’ ie recommend me to someone you know.  When you enjoy something as much as your relaxing treatment, it seems a kindness to share it with your friends.  And how about family or colleagues, parents from the school gate or a friend on Facebook.  Don’t worry if your friends aren’t local, Distance Reiki can be done wherever they live – I am currently working effectively with people who live 80 miles from where I am.  Find out more about Distance Reiki here.

We all come into contact with people who are stressed or need some time out, so please let them know how your Reiki or reflexology session helps you.  These last few years have been difficult for all of us in one way, shape or form.  They have brought out emotions in us that we didn’t expect and have challenged our coping mechanisms.  This in turn has upset our usual balance and equilibrium and made us look at things differently.  This is of course, not always a bad thing but it takes a little getting used to and sometimes we need some support.  The treatments I offer not only relax the body, but can also ease the mind and soothe the emotions.

So how does the refer a friend reward work?

  • Firstly pass my details on to your friend
  • Then ask them to contact me to book an appointment
  • When your friend has had their appointment* you can claim £10 off your next treatment
  • You can repeat as many times as you like

A few Ts & Cs….

  • Your friend must have booked, attended and paid for their treatment before your discount can be applied.
  • Discounted treatments cannot be used on the loyalty card.
  • You can refer friends and claim your discounts as many times as you like.
  • The friend must not be an existing client of mine.
  • *If your friend books a 30 minute Distance Reiki treatment they must have two treatments before you can claim your discount.
  • The cancellation policy applies to all appointments and will be charged at the stated rates and not at the discounted rate.

COVID-19 Risk Assessment and Commitment

Updated April 2021

Following the announcement by the Government on Monday 5th April, We are delighted that Medulla Holistic Therapies can start seeing clients face to face again for hands on treatments.COVID-19 risk assessment - staying covid secure  This COVID-19 Risk Assessment shows my commitment to keeping my clients and myself and family safe.

Obviously keeping you and us safe is of paramount importance and so there will be some changes to the way appointments and treatments are carried out.  This will include reduced chat time and increased PPE as well as a health questionnaire before each and every appointment.  I will ask you to not attend your appointment if you or any of your household have any of the COVID-19 symptoms, to wear your own face covering and put it on before entering the house and to take care not to touch anything before you enter the treatment room as a way of protecting us all.

Please read the Risk Assessment and Commitment below that I undertake to protect you and then please also read the new client protocol which advises what you and we should do to prevent the virus from spreading.

I have taken my guidance from the UK Reiki Federation as well as the Government’s website www.gov.uk

If you have any questions regarding my statements or changes to your treatment then please do contact me here.

I have removed the rugs, soft furnishings and many decorative items to ensure all surfaces in the treatment room are easy to clean and sanitise.
I will only be using the treatment couch as it is easier to sanitise before and after each client. The small stool will also be included in this process and the couch cover will be washed after each client.
The pillow coverings, blankets, flannels and towels will also be changed and washed after each client.
I will wear a face covering, a visor and a disposable apron for all treatments.  I will wear gloves for Reiki but not reflexology.
I will wash my hands immediately before and after each treatment without touching anything between the sink and the treatment room and drying my hands on paper towel.
I have to keep your records and agree to share a few details with NHS Track and Trace if they contact me if one of my other clients develops symptoms.
I have a responsibility to inform the local health authority if you tell me that you develop symptoms within seven days of visiting my treatment room.
On the morning of each treatment I will text you a health questionnaire at around 8am, please copy and paste it into your reply with you answers.  I will not be able to see you if you have not done this.

And so we return to hands-on treatments again after yet another lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus, however the virus and COVID-19 has not gone away.  Obviously keeping you and us safe is of paramount importance and so there will be some changes to the way appointments and treatments are carried out.

Our protocol for safer treatments will include reduced chat time and increased PPE as well as a health questionnaire before each and every appointment.  I will ask you to not attend your appointment if you or any of your household have any of the COVID-19 symptoms, to wear your own face covering and put it on before entering the house and to take care not to touch anything before you enter the treatment room as a way of protecting us all.

Please read through this protocol which is based on guidance received from the Government, my insurers and governing bodies.

I have also created a document showing my risk assessment and the commitments I am undertaking to ensure the room, equipment and the treatment are as safe as they can be.

Doors, kitchen surfaces or furniture – this is our home.

Please do not bring anything into the house.

Where possible the consultation parts of your appointment will be carried out in the garden.

Or if this has to be done indoors will be much shorter.

Planning for return to hands on treatments!

This is still very much dependant on the Government’s advice nearer the time, but hairdressers have been advised that they may be able to start to return to hands on treatments from 4th July.  As therapists, we have a similar or even smaller amount of contact with our clients, and our guiding organisations are advising us to prepare for the same.

Things, however, will obviously be done very differently.

The UK Reiki Federation and Guild of Holistic Therapists have already sent out guidance of steps we can start preparing towards and will send out more as the Government issues it.   From the information I  have received so far, I am running risk assessments on my treatment room and practices.  From this I am creating a protocol that will work for me, for my clients and at the same time aim to keep us as safe as possible.

In the meantime there are a couple of things you can do to help us both get treatment room ready:

  • Let me know you’d like to be one of the first on my appointment list
  • If possible purchase or make a face covering.  I will have a supply of a multi-layer fabric masks that will be washed after each client.

I have been busy too and have done a course and achieved Covid-19 certification in understand how the virus is spread and infection control generally.

As soon as I know when I will be able to start seeing clients I will contact those on this list first to book your appointments.  I will also send out the new protocol to you, it is likely to include steps such as

  • cleaning of furniture, equipment, door handles etc,
  • length of time between clients to allow for thorough cleaning,
  • PPE to be worn by me and my clients,
  • reducing fabric coverings on couch and chair to make surfaces easier to clean,
  • what clients can and cannot touch (where possible)
  • checking on recent health/Covid-19 symptoms at time of booking and prior to appointment

This will definitely be a different way of working but at least I should soon be able to return to hands on treatments and welcome you back again.
