January Product of the Month

This gorgeous facial scrub is the perfect way to refresh your skin at any time of year but particularly the start of the new year. At this time of year we have often spent more time indoors than we might usually do and often find we have not followed the usual healthful dietary or skincare regime we might do throughout the rest of the year.

We have probably consumed more rich food and more alcohol than usual; and taken on board less water and fibre.  Late nights and alcohol often mean we don’t cleanse our skin as well as we might ordinarily either and all of this adds up over the days to leave our skin feeling and looking dull and lifeless.

Even if you use a facial scrub as part of your regular skincare regime, this one is particularly refreshing and smells so good – it’s a perfect pep-start to the day in the shower.  The rice powder granules are slightly larger than you might expect but gentle circular movements over the face and neck really feel like this is doing you good and it is gentle enough for sensitive skin (I was worried the first time I tried it, but my skin has never reacted to this product).

October Product of the Month – Organic Elderberry Syrup

Organic Elderberry Syrup is a must have at this time of year, especially if you don’t have the time to make your own.  Elderberries are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A and potassium as well as anti-oxidants.

These nutritional components are great for helping our bodies protect themselves from the stresses and strains of everyday life including helping us fight off colds and ‘flu.  The syrup can be used to ease the symptoms of colds, but also as a preventative by helping to boost our immune system and defences in the first place.  I took this through the autumn and winter last year and managed to avoid the bugs!

Vitamin A is great for the skin, helping to soothe troubled skin conditions, such as acne, and even reduce liver spots and ease lines.

Other benefits have been suggested as a help for cystitis or UTIs, digestive health and allergy relief.

I love mixing this delicious herbal cordial with warm water and serving to my clients after their treatment alongside the usual glass of water.

The Neal’s Yard Elderberry Syrup is free from GM and is made from 100% organic ingredients!

September Product of the Month – Lengthening Mascara

Lengthening Mascara

I don’t know about you, but over the last few years I have been very concerned about the make-up I wear as well as the skincare I put on my body.  Whilst Neal’s Yard no longer do a range of make-up they did keep this, their most popular product and I am so glad they did!

I have been using it now for a couple of years and would not change.  One coat gives a lovely daytime coverage or leave it to dry before adding a second coat and it gives the perfect extra coverage for evening eyes.

It’s the only mascara I’ve tried that doesn’t hurt my sensitive eyes or damage my eyelashes and above all it smells of CHOCOLATE!  Seriously, it does and that comes from one of the main ingredients Carnauba wax.  Here is what Neal’s Yard have to say about it.

July product of the month – Beauty Sleep Concentrate

People often ask me which is my favourite Neal’s Yard product and that’s a very difficult one to answer.  You see it changes with the season or when I try something new or when I rediscover something I haven’t used for a while.

I should, however, be able to narrow it down to just one product a month!  This product will be available to test in my treatment room, so please ask if you’re having a treatment and I’ll also be doing a quick review in my monthly newsletter and a slightly longer one here on my blog.

With shorter nights during the summer, every moment of sleep counts and this little beauty (no pun intended) is a double hit.

The blend of ylang ylang, orange, clary sage and patchouli oils within help evoke a feeling of peace and well-being.  The aromatherapy of these oils creates space in the mind which allows for a restful and restorative nights sleep.

The light, serum-like moisturiser contains narcissus bulb and grapeseed oil which naturally help to lock moisture into the skin without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling.  You can read more about it on the Neal’s Yard website here.

Apply 2-4 pumps after your evening cleansing routine (whatever that may be) and you can use after a serum or just on it’s own.  I find that at this time of year two pumps is sufficient to cover the face and leave my skin fresh and hydrated in the morning.  Don’t forget to hold your hands up to your face after you’ve applied it and breath in slowly and deeply to get the maximum effect of the aromatherapy benefits.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas about the products I feature so please feel free to leave comments below, but I’d also love to hear about your favourites so do get in touch and if you send a photo then I may feature it and send you a little thank you present.
